A male passenger flying from Hefei to Guangzhou was arrested and kept in a holding cell for five days after acting belligerent and attacking a flight attendant, reported Nandu.

The passenger, surnamed Xia, just couldn’t seem to get comfortable on flight CZ3814 bound for Guangzhou on December 16. He first took it upon himself to upgrade to business class from coach without permission, occupying one of the empty seats. He then decided to take his shoes off and put them on the seat in front of him, dismissing requests from flight attendants to refrain from doing so.

But that wasn’t the end of it. During takeoff, Xia got up to use the toilet and asked for hot water. When the attendant kindly asked him to return to his seat, Xia yelled at her and grabbed her by the arm. According to the report, the attendant was left with bruises on her right arm.

This is the latest in a string of cases involving Chinese passengers behaving badly on flights, after one man splashed a flight attendant with boiling hot water, and another opened an emergency exit, deploying the slide to get off the plane quicker.
