An aquarium theme park in China’s southern Guangdon Province now officially has the distinction of being having the world’s largest film screen.
Chimelong Ocean Kingdom has been certified as being the holder of two Guinness world records for its massive 1,581 square meter screen: the “world’s largest permanent projection screen” and the “world’s largest 3D projection”.
The screen is 88 meters wide and 18 meters high, and is curved around a 180 degree arc. The 3D projection is accompanied by a 5D experience, signifying there are other ways to experience the performance through touch and other senses. Using 12 projectors, the theater is capable of offering 4K resolution images.
The 1,000 seat theater that hosts the giant screen is currently showing a 13 minute-animated movie twice an hour every day. Called Kaka’s Big Adventure (seen below), the domestically-made cartoon is shown from 10:30am to 8:30pm daily.
Chimelong Ocean Kingdom is also the holder of five Guinness world records that it set last year with the unveiling of a massive aquarium exhibit. Among its records include that the world’s largest underwater viewing dome, the largest aquarium tank, the largest aquarium window and the largest acrylic panel.
