Olympic swimmer and media darling, Fu Yuanhui, isn’t done with the spotlight just yet. The bronze medalist recently collaborated with survivalist Bear Grylls for an upcoming reality TV show.
Grylls arrived in Sichuan Province last Sunday to shoot the outdoor show in the Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture. Other guests featured on Grylls’ show include Baidu CEO Robin Li and footballer Fan Zhiyi.Grylls extended the invitation to Fu to appear on his show (shown above) in which guests tackle the challenges of living outdoors and eating strange food.
Described by Grylls as an “optimistic while bizarrely cool girl” who has “won the love of the entire world”, Fu said she was up for the challenge. “I ate something strange and did something very cool,” Fu wrote on her Weibo social media account. “I feel satisfied with myself.”
Fu ate an uncooked snake, Li ate raw yak meat, and Fan ate live marmots. Earlier this month, basketball star Yao Ming also taped a segment with Grylls.
Running Wild with Bear Grylls is currently airing its third season, and has featured guests including US President Barack Obama. Grylls made a Chinese version of his show last year called Survivor Games in which actress Janine Chang ate bugs.
It’s not clear which show Fu and the other Chinese guests will be appearing on. Grylls own posts suggest the show will be called “Absolute Wild“.
