Guangzhou traffic cops take down road raging military driver

The details are still a bit sketchy, but multiple accounts on Weibo suggest that the driver of the Audi A6 with military license plates (left) went into a bit of a frenzy Sunday after getting cut off by a #305 bus on Guangzhou Avenue—in the bus lane.

Then it appears that the driver raced ahead and forced the bus off the road, running straight over to pull the bus driver out and rough him up. Police were called, and passersby started taking photos when the uniformed soldier was tackled to the ground and forced him into a squad car.

The story didn’t make headlines in any commercial newspapers in the city, but with the number of retweets and kind of praise these police have been getting locally, you’d think they’d have incentive to do more of this kind of police work. And, if this signifies a new internal zero tolerance policy for police in Guangzhou, why aren’t they talking to the media about it?
