No. The western companies are complicit. They make price demands of the supplier, then play dumb and say “How are you going to meet my requirement? I don’t care. Work something out.”

No, really. Checking the contracts validity is not something that is usually expected of social auditors. They have so many other issues to check in the factory (child labor, forced labor, working hours, minimum salary, fire prevention, environmental risks, employees’ protective equipment, and on and on).

I don’t think so. An auditor from a third party QA agency typically doesn’t check the details of the contracts. He is shown contracts and says “good”.

Usually big brand names like Adidas and Nike uses a 3rd party company to do factory audit to make sure things like this doesn’t happen before they even start dropping order… Red Envelope Involvement is a definite here…
