It’s now even easier for people in China’s Pearl River Delta to get to Silicon Valley after direct flights were launched between Guangzhou and San Francisco.
China Southern Airlines will initially offer the eight and-a-half hour flight every Thursday, but it is eventually expected to include departures every Sunday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday as well. Flight B787 will be three hours faster than China Southern Airlines’ previous eleven and-a-half hour flight, which included a stopover in Wuhan.
This is the PRD’s first direct flight to San Francisco (not including from Hong Kong), and Guangzhou’s third direct flight to the USA, after flights to Los Angeles and New York City. You can also fly direct from Guangzhou to Vancouver, Canada.
The flight is expected to cost RMB 4,700 for an economy class seat.
