The article also reviews another piece of fiction about China. But indeed I was unaware that “Fisking” required a job being done on the whole thing.

The assertions about central casting and ignoring complexity are both demonstrably untrue. I think if you read the novel you’ll agree.

I haven’t read the book, so I have no idea whether it is good or not, but:

1) A proper Fisking would involve going through the entire piece point-by-point. You didn’t do that.

2) You didn’t point out anything that was a factual inaccuracy, but instead criticised what appear to be matters of opinion (e.g., whether or not the books characters “appear to have come from central casting”).
