> This shows that China’s Communist revolution was not just a Chinese revolution, but it was achieved with the help of foreign powers.
Because Marxism Leninism is an international movement.
> However, after Mao’s death the CCP abandoned Marxism-Leninism and took refuge in a simple rhetorical stratagem: the return to the market economy is called “the primary stage of socialism” (see e.g. Xi Jinping: The Governance of China).
Just another dumb ass historically lacking comment. The CCP is still heavily influenced by Marxism Leninism, from the way it is organized, to it’s establishment as a vanguard party, views on direct participatory democracy, and the emphasis on technological and industrial advancement. Primary Stage of Socialism owes its historical roots to Lenin’s NEP.
> The public in China has not been told how long the primary stage of socialism will last,
Because that’s not how development works? You don’t set out to reach something nebulous like Full Communism in 10 years and then hang it up if you don’t nail the deadline. That kind of orthodox thinking is what lead to fuck ups like the GLF and Stalin’s collectivization, the idea that “if we just get this one thing done (collectivization) ASAP it’s all down hill from here”. Is the author really suggesting a return to that kind of hard line methodology or is the author an idiot?
“Hey guys, we’ve developed enough, so it’s time to hang it up!”
> As long as the CCP does not lay out a clear vision of how to implement Marxism-Leninism in China
Sure they do. I’ve recently suffered through The Governance of China in all of it’s boring, dry, glory, and that shit is full of how the CCP plans on further industrializing and advancing the country.
> it is fair enough to assume that the “primary stage of socialism” theory is just a trick that hides the fact that Marxism-Leninism has failed.
Marxism Leninism has failed yet in 30 years China is an economic powerhouse.
