Yes, that is what I am talking about 注音拼音 Taiwanese learn it in primary school and then it is never seen again. I found that most adults in Taiwan (including university professors) were terrible at using 注音拼音. Most foreigners have a better command of it. I can only read both a little. I just read 汉字. It’s easier.

Ma government in Taiwan has promoted the use of Pinyin these years ,so you can see new signs on the street are written in Pinyin; however, systems built before Ma’s governance are still written in WG, such as Taipei MRT.

People in Taiwan actually don’t use romanization . Most of Taiwanese are unable to write Chinese in romanization. We use another system called Zhuyinfuhao 注音符號 , like ㄅ means “b”; ㄡ means “o”.

Well Taiwan doesn’t know what system they use. You can see every system of romanization on the streets including W-G, but not in the schools where bopomo is still being taught and then never seen again.

W-G is far from perfect, but Pinyin just sucks.

whatever u say , no one use wade-giles system ,in mainland ,taiwan ,HK , mala ,i think only tsingdao Beer is one relic .

Personally I prefer the Wade-Giles system…PINYIN is nothing more than a copy of intellectual property stolen by the Chinese

That’s the greatest thing about being 100 years old in China—you can criticize the government as much as you want and know they won’t dare put you in prison. Let’s hope all Chinese people live to be 109….the last revolution was fought with plowshares and sickles. The next is with canes and colostomy bags.
