The only comments that infuriate me here are the Chinese complaining about the “off-limits” nature of the city. Not one Chinese I saw was told “not welcome” or “mei you” or some other derivation upon walking into over 30 hotels over 4 hours. Not one Chinese had guns pointed at them. Not one Chinese was given questioning and scrutiny over their presence in one of the most beautiful cities in China. As a foreigner I was sickened by the scrutiny I received (and I was there just to visit Huangshan).
