An explosion today at Shanghai Pudong International Airport’s Terminal 2 has injured four people.
The incident occurred at around 2:20pm in front of the check-in counter in Area C of the terminal. Police have cordoned off the area to conduct a thorough investigation. Operations at the airport are said to be continuing as normal.One victim sustained serious injuries to his neck. The other three victims are believed to have suffered minor injuries. One eyewitness described the explosion as extremely loud, and that it caused a large plume of smoke.
Some media reports have attributed the explosion to firecrackers, either being packed in luggage or thrown at the airport.
