Zhanjiang official dismissed after second family discovered
Posted: 12/27/2012 10:00 amThe deputy secretary-general of the Zhanjiang city government has been dismissed after a microblogger revealed that he had a mistress and a second child and an official investigation confirmed the allegations, China Daily reports.
Deng Wengao is the latest Guangdong official to have been caught doing wrong in the ongoing anti-graft efforts.
From China Daily:
Deng’s case was first exposed online on Dec 21, with videos showing Deng with a woman and a child. The woman is not his wife.
Local disciplinary authorities said a further investigation is under way.
Deng Wengao says his family is facing “special circumstances,” and he denies being “morally corrupt.”
Netizens expressed a mixture of anger and amusement at the scandal, with one asking: “How special do you have to be to be exempt from the one child policy?” Another exclaimed that government officials are now even allowed to keep mistresses. Another enquired: “Doesn’t every family have special circumstances?”
This comes after Shenzhen introduced stricter measures to uphold China’s one-child policy.
