Shenzhen weekend: comedy, The Fuzz, furniture exhibition, and women’s networking

The weather has really warmed up, so you owe it to yourself to get out there before it gets humid and unbearable. Here are some possible choices:

Mar. 21st – Friday Frisbee Throwing Training by the SZUPA – This week, the SZUPA will be moving the normally Thursday Throw to Friday for you to learn the basics of throwing and catching a frisbee.

Mar. 21st - Professional Women’s Happy Hour by love, Shenzhen – love, Shenzhen is rounding up all the ladies for a great night out of networking @ The Tavern.

Mar. 22nd - 29th Shenzhen International Furniture Exhibition (SIFE) – The SIFE will take place on March 29th at the Shenzhen Convention & Exhibition Center. The biggest furniture exhibition in China where professionals in the industry and those just interested in furniture can meet each other and see the new trends.

Mar. 22nd - LIVE English Standup Comedy show @ Luna Bar! – Live English Standup Comedy is BACK and the great comedian Vivek is returning to destroy. Get your tickets while you can!

Mar. 22nd – 2014 Post Punk Band The Fuzz Love Hate Tour @ B10 Live – Post Punk Rock Band the Fuzz, make their tour debut this Saturday at B10 Live!

Mar. 23rd - Ultimate Frisbee in Futian! Sunday Pickup 12:30PM @ Bianfang – The SZUPA meet every Sunday to play Ultimate Frisbee. This week we will meet 12:30PM at the Bianfang football pitches. Afterwards we’ll have food and drinks together at Frankies American Bar.

Shenzhen weekend: Idea Exchange, speed dating, music, comedy and more

The temperatures may have plummeted, but there are plenty of hot events happening in the ‘Zhen this weekend. Check ‘em out:

Feb. 20th – Thursday Frisbee Throwing Training by the SZUPA – Join the SZUPA Thursdays if you’d like to learn the basics of throwing and catching a frisbee.

Feb. 22nd – Shenzhen Exchange: Idea Exchange – Shenzhne Exchange presents their second meeting in Farsome Space. The theme this time is an IDEA Exchange where you can present an idea that you have to the attendees.

Feb. 22nd - Speed Dating Night @ Clare’s – The chance to meet many special someones in one evening. Speed Dating is happening at Clare’s, an English Cafe in Luohu selling traditional English Pies and Cakes.

Feb. 22nd - LIVE Standup Comedy RETURN’s to Cindy’s Restaurant in Futian! – Live Standup comedy is back and in Futian. Voted the best entertainment in Hong Kong and a hit here in Shenzhen, too.

Feb. 22nd - My Digital Enemy @ Pepper Club – If you love House music, head on over to Pepper Club for a night of My Digital Enemy.

Feb. 22nd – PsyTribe OVERSOUL @ Cafe 5 – The PsyTribe is moving their crazy trance show to Cafe 5 this weekend. UV lights, fancy decorations, and Tance music make for a fun night in Luohu.

Feb. 23rd – Ultimate Frisbee in Futian! Sunday Pickup 12:30PM @ Bianfang – The SZUPA meet every Sunday to play Ultimate Frisbee. This week we will meet 12:30PM at the Bianfang football pitches.

Shenzhen this weekend: DJ Tenishia, Last Improv Comedy, Warehouse Rave, Uber Brunch

Shenzhen offers you a wide variety of activities this weekend. Here’s what’s happening:

Jan. 10th - Open Mic Night @ XPATS – Open Mic is every Friday at XPATS. Come enjoy a beer, and keep drinking those beers till you have the courage to go up to perform.

Jan. 11th – Saturday Brunch with Uber! – Uber, the popular car service that delivers you an Audi at the touch of a button through the use of an app, has been hosting events throughout Shenzhen recently to get people using their service. Here’s one more. Uber is hosting a free brunch at Fresco International Tapas in Shekou. Just use Uber to take you there.

Jan. 11th - Planet Factory Improv Comedy Presents: GRANDE FINALE FAREWELL SHOW! – After a year of putting on entertaining improv comedy, The Planet Factory is calling it quits, but before they do they want to have one last show. Here’s your last chance.

Jan. 11th - Sunday Ultimate Frisbee by the SZUPA – Join a growing group of expats and local Chinese players play the fast growing international sport: Ultimate.

Jan. 11th – Tenishia @ Pepper Club – 1st YEAR ANNIVERSARY World’s #49 DJ – Pepper Club celebrates it’s 1 Year Anniversary by inviting DJ Tenishia, a DJ ranked #49 out of 100 in the world.

Jan. 11th – The Real Deal Presents – Warehouse Rave – The Real Deal Inc is bringing you another one of their popular raves. This time however they’ve found their way out of the tunnels of IKEA and traded up for using a warehouse in Che Gong Miao. Good music, cheap drinks, and lots of buzz for this event make me think you need to be there this Saturday.

Jan. 12th – Ultimate Frisbee @ Happy Valley Park – The Shenzhen Superren meet every Sunday to play Ultimate. The location may change in the future. Most days it will be at at Happy Valley Park. Please check where we will be playing each week by calling or texting Jeff(13751100329) to check.

Dec. 28th - Bar Hopping in Style with Uber – Foreplay, a well known group of event organizers, have come up with something unique. They have partnered with Uber to help you barhop to threee locations. Uber is a service that lets you book Audi’s to drive you around town. Sounds like a fun night!

Dec. 28th – Saturday Salsa Night @ Curv Bar – Make your way down to Curv bar for some Salsa with the Fun Salsa Club.

Dec. 29th – 2014 Shenzhen Tennis Open – Come see Li Na defend her title in the 2014 Shenzhen Open as she competes for $500,000.

Dec. 29th - Sunday Ultimate Frisbee by the SZUPA – Join a growing group of expats and local Chinese players play the fast growing international sport: Ultimate.

Dec. 13th – Fresh Holiday Fundraiser featuring THE FRIENDLY CANNONS - Fresh Presents a holiday Fundraiser to benefit the Baoji Xinxing Aid Center. 100RMB to shake your booty for a good cause.

Dec. 13th – Ministry of Sound at Club Pepper – Ministry of Sound returns to Club Pepper to start off the holiday season with a hard thumping beat.

Dec. 13th – InterNations Shenzhen December event @ O! Garden Bar in Coco Park – Meet and mingle with Internation members at O! Garden for their monthly meet. A great way to expand your network.

Dec. 14th – Saturday Ultimate Frisbee by the SZUPA – Join a growing group of expats and local Chinese players play the fast growing international sport: Ultimate.

Dec. 14th – Shenzhen Through My Eyez – Photo Exhibition of Our City – After all the submissions, it’s time to see what you see. An exhibition of photos of Shenzhen from people like you. Continues until January 10th.

Dec. 14th - The Terrace 8th Anniversary – One of the most well known bars in Shenzhen is about to celebrate its 8th birthday. Sure to be a great time for one and all.

Dec. 6th – Saturday Ultimate Frisbee by the SZUPA – Join a growing group of expats and local Chinese players play the fast growing international sport: Ultimate.

Dec. 7th – Shenzhen Through My Eyez – Photo Exhibition of Our City – After all the submissions, it’s time to see what you see. An exhibition of photos of Shenzhen from people like you.

Dec. 7th - Takeout Comedy in Futian! English Standup Comedy Show @ Le Bistro! – Enjoy some real profession comedians as they work hard to give you some laughs. Appearing for the first time in Le Bistro in futian near Coco Park.

Dec. 7th - The Real Deal Presents: RAVE NATION – Head on back to the IKEA tunnels for a louder colder darker all night tunnel rave by the Real Deal inc.

Nov. 28th-30th – THANKSGIVING Weekend Party @ V BAR - V Bar in the Venice Hotel is putting on a three day Weekend Party. I don’t see the relationship to Thanksgiving besides it besides it starting on Thanksgiving, but it’s worth a mention.

Nov. 29th - Typhoon Haiyan Relief Concert and Auction @ XPats – Join this second opportunity in Shenzhen to enjoy some music and raise money for those affected by the recent typhoon in the Phillippines.

Nov. 30th - Saturday Salsa Night @ Curv Bar – Make your way down to Curv bar for some Salsa with the Fun Salsa Club.

Dec. 1st - Shenzhen Through My Eyez – Photo Entry Deadline! – Photographers can submit photos to this great exhibit at Fresco International Tapas in Shekou. Show us what you see when you look at Shenzhen. There are three categories: Shenzhen Street Dwelling, Shenzhen Scenery, and Shenzhen Contemporary. The deadline is this Sunday, December 1st. 250RMB to make a submission.

Dec. 1st - Dancing Queen – Abba’s Greatest Hits @ The Poly Theatre  - Enjoy the music of the hit musical Mamma Mia in Shenzhen!

Dec. 1st – Sunday Ultimate Frisbee by the SZUPA – Join a growing group of expats and local Chinese players play the fast growing international sport: Ultimate.

A very musical weekend is in store for those of you in Shenzhen. Here’s what’s happening:

Nov. 21st – Learn to throw a frisbee by the SZUPA – The SZUPA aims to spread the sport of ultimate frisbee to Shenzhen and China. Members meet weekly for many activities related to the sport as well as social activities to reach out to the Shenzhen Community. Join tonight if you’d like to learn the basics of throwing and catching a frisbee.

Nov. 22nd - Opening Ceremony for the 6th European Union Film Festival – The European Chamber offers up their film festival here in Shenzhen. Sneak in some wine and cheese and enjoy over a week of movies in a real movie theatre.

Nov. 22nd – Kenny G 2013 China Tour in Shenzhen – Kenny G is back again this weekend performing many of everyone’s favourite elevator songs. It will be a big event as he is loved here!

Nov. 23rd – Iron Mic Rapper Battle @ B10 Live – Should be interesting. This is a hip hop battle but in Chinese. Something different to experience in Shenzhen.

Nov. 23rd – Bonaparte @ Brown Sugar Jar – Come see a Berlin-based electronic band headed by Swiss songwriter Tobias Jundt and about 20 other performers rock out at Che Gong Miao’s best joint for live music, Brown Sugar Jar.

Nov. 23rd - Planet Factory Improv Comedy Show! – The Planet Factory is a group of expats and Chinese guys from around the city that meet once a month for Improv Comedy.

Nov. 24th - Philippine’s Charity Concert – Seven bands from around the city will be out in X-Ta-Sea bar in the Ming Hua ship to raise money for the victim’s of Typhoon Haiyan. It should be a really good time that will help lots of people.

Nov. 24th – Sunday Ultimate Frisbee by the SZUPA – Join a growing group of expats and local Chinese players play the fast growing international sport: Ultimate.

Nov. 15th - Ashura album tour @ B10 Live – Chengdu-based Ashura will be playing songs from their newly released album called Ashura II at B10. A blend of  rock, pop, rap, and dance music.

Nov. 16th - Shangri La Ride for Hope – Are you up for a real adventure in China for a good cause? Shangri La hotels are organizing a charity bike ride to benefit a group of villagers in Guangxi.

Nov. 16th – Takeout Comedy! English Standup Comedy Show in Shenzhen – Takeout Comedy returns and this time they are invading Shekou. Trimmed down to four seasoned performers. Guaranteed to leave you laughing.

Nov. 17th – UFC 167 @ Xpats – Spend a nice lunch watching some people beating the $%^$ out of each other down at Xpats.

Nov. 17th – Sunday Ultimate Frisbee by the SZUPA – Join a growing group of expats and local Chinese players play the fast growing international sport: Ultimate.

Nov. 7th – Learn to throw a Frisbee by the SZUPA – The SZUPA is an organization with the goal of spreading the sport of Ultimate frisbee to Shenzhen and China. They meet weekly for many activities related to their sport as well as social activities to reach out to the Shenzhen Community. Nov. 8th - Beijing’s Purple Soul debuts their W.T.F Album @ B10 Live – B10 continues to bring you the true experience of live music and performance artists from the best of local and international acts. Come experience some of Beijing’s newest and brightest Hip Hop groups.

Nov. 8th – Adidas Originals Electronic Party Series – “Superstars” Featuring Jack Beats @ Pepper Club – Club Pepper continues to be an important club in Shenzhen drawing in international DJs and throwing popular themed events. Check them out as they take part in a Nationwide DJ series presented by Adidas featuring Jack Beats supported by Wonky Kong DJs.

Nov. 9th - Coaster Raid – Explore all of Shekou- Join Coaster Raid as they further explore the ever-changing city of Shenzhen. This time they focus on Shekou. Time to find out if it’s more than just expat bars and restaurants.

Nov. 9th - Tunnel Rave Presented by The Real Deal Inc - The Real Deal Inc continues their series of rave parties in Shenzhen’s now not-so-secret IKEA tunnels. People do love to party in the dark.

Nov. 10th - FRANKIE’S 2nd Annual Marine Corps Birthday Party – Frankie’s is Shenzhen’s most authentic American bar offering quality food and drinks. Come celebrate the birth of the United States Marine Corps.
