Nanfang TV: A peek inside the Foxconn fortress
Posted: 11/29/2011 9:05 pmFoxconn has proven to be a very successful, but very controversial company. It is the manufacturing behemoth that operates a large factory in Shenzhen, as well as others elsewhere in China and around the world. It makes Kindles, iPads, iPhones, computers, tablets and more.
Foxconn was in the news last year because of a spate of suicides, and continues to make news for the wrong reasons. The campus is heavily guarded, and journalists are rarely allowed inside.
Dreamworks China is a group of journalists which spent a year in the Pearl River Delta talking to workers inside Foxconn about what it’s like to work there, their hopes, and dreams. It’s a very interesting look at what it’s like, not only at Foxconn, but working as one of the millions of migrant workers who arrive each year in Shenzhen seeking employment.
