A woman who had recently migrated to Shenzhen to seek work was out for a stroll when she was hit by a suicidal man who had jumped from a building. He died and she was hospitalized, Liaoning Satellite Television reports.

Although the woman, Mrs. Lai, is still in hospital, she is trying to get the man’s family to cover her medical fees, according to Yahoo News.

Lai, 40, was walking around Yangguang Zonglvyuan in Nanshan District on March 27 when a 50 year-old man jumped to his death from the twelfth floor. Lai had just arrived in Shenzhen from her native Jiangxi at 3 p.m. that day.

The man had a long term illness and he did not want to be a burden to his family. However, a law firm was quoted as saying the family should be responsible for covering Lai’s medical fees.
