I asked a spanish colleague who travelled to Hong Kong from Shenzhen last weekend (March 9, 2013) if the immigration started issuing computer-generated slips when crossing the border and he said no. I wonder if this applies to all border crossings in Shenzhen namely Luohu, Huanggang, Futian and Shenzhen Bay. Have they (HK immigration) started this already? It's free of charge and just takes five minutes. You need to arrive four times at Hong Kong International Airport, but once you're in the system, you can bypass long queues at immigration. Works at HKIA + major border crossings like Lo Wu. http://m.www.gov.hk/en/residents/immigration/control/echannel.htm#fvapc Frequent visitors to HK have been able to sign up for the eChannel for a long time.
