Dongguan mom beats 3-year old son to death with a clothes hanger
Posted: 11/2/2012 7:00 amA 28 year-old woman in Dongguan surnamed Huang pleaded guilty October 29 to murdering her 3 year-old son, Nanfang Daily reports.
The murder took place in April when Huang, 28, was overcome with rage at her son’s disobedience and beat him repeatedly with a clothes hanger. When the clothes hanger broke, she used another one. Her husband, surnamed Liang, buried the corpse in nearby wasteland.
On Sept. 14, Huang tearfully confessed to police that she was a simple, uneducated woman overcome with stress.
The couple, who are originally from Jiangxi Province, live in a one-room apartment in Chashan Town. When Liang came home from work on April 19 he saw his hysterical wife and their son who was cold and motionless.
He comforted his wife before wrapping the corpse in clothes and bringing it to a nearby mountainous area to bury it.
The couple then went to police to report their son missing, saying they had been watching a performance in Culture Square before coming back to find their son was gone.
After a short time the police discovered the couple were lying. The mother is likely to spend 10 years in prison while the father will face one year.
In her book of essays, “Of Woman Born,” feminist poet Adrienne Rich explored the unreasonable demands that society placed on mothers and even told readers not to be too harsh in judging mothers who kill their own children.
Does Huang deserve any sympathy for losing her temper with her screaming child?
