Bus engine explodes in Dongguan injuring 9
Posted: 05/28/2013 10:00 amThe engine of a bus exploded in Dongguan’s Chang’an Village on Sunday morning, causing serious injuries to two, and minor injuries to seven others, Guangdong Satellite Television reports.
At around 9:30 a.m., the number 6 bus was on Niaoshahuan East Road when the incident occured.
One witness told the TV station that he was just walking along when he heard a loud bang as components started flying out of the now-stationary vehicle.
The injured were taken to Dongguan Chang’an Hospital. “There was no fire, just smoke,” said one of the injured.
Mr. Xiong, who was sitting on the back row, received a deep head wound. “The floor opened beneath me and the next thing I knew I had fainted,” he told reporters from his hospital bed.
Another one of the injured, Mr. Zheng, told reporters he suddenly felt a pain in his ankle. He then realised his clothes had been ripped and blood was flowing out. Doctors told him he had sustained muscular injuries.
The bus was towed away and the cause is being investigated.
