At around 11:30 a.m., the elevator, one of four in Changhong Tower, fell at least three stories from the 16th floor with half of the woman’s body inside. The ten other people in the lift were covered in her blood, but it is still not known how many of them were seriously injured, security guards told media.
There is also an enormous amount of blood in the area outside where the 24 year-old nurse got stuck.
Initially, the door closed on her arm and the lift went down three floors. There is a sign that she struggled as the lift continued to shoot up and down.
Authorities are investigating the cause.
Citizens are reminded not to jump or smoke in a lift as this may damage the lift’s detection equipment. People also shouldn’t use a lift during an emergency such as a fire or an earthquake.
