A patient in Henggang Subdistrict in Shenzhen’s Longgang District who was accused of not paying enough for an abortion was blackmailed by a doctor who took a photo of her changing clothes, CNTV reports.

When Xiao Cai discovered she was pregnant on March 20, neither she nor her boyfriend, Xiao Zhang, felt ready to start a family. They decided that having an abortion was the right thing to do, so they then went to the outpatient department at Min’ai Hospital in Henggang.

They paid 2,000 yuan for the surgery but the surgeon told them that they still owed 500. He then called Xiao Zhang saying he would not return Xiao Cai’s clothes until he had received the money.

By the time Xiao Zhang arrived at the hospital, the doctor had given Xiao Cai her clothes back. But then, according to Xiao Cai, he took her picture when she was getting dressed and demanded the money.

After the couple called the police and demanded an investigation, the hospital returned the extra money they had been charged and issued an apology.
