Woman struggles to make ends meet in Huizhou with two suffering children
Posted: 02/27/2013 7:00 amA grandmother in Huizhou is faced with unaffordable medical fees after her grandson accidentally sat in a wok full of boiling water. This is just the latest misfortune to befall Mrs. Cao, whose son has leukaemia, Southern Metropolis Daily reports.
After leaving her 3 year-old grandson unattended for a few minutes on February 10, Mrs. Cao saw he had accidentally sat in the boiling water and rushed him to Chenjiang Hospital. The toddler, Cao Yixuan, was later transferred to the children’s ward of Huizhou City Hospital.
Almost the entire back of his body is covered in 2nd degree burns.
Originally from Meizhou, the family are blue collar workers currently based in Huizhou’s Chenjiang Village. Cao Yixuan is the son of Mrs. Cao’s youngest son, Cao Xianqian. After having the child, Cao Yixuan’s mother abandoned the family.
The boy’s father has still not been told about his son’s injury. Mrs. Cao’s other son could only contribute 2,000 yuan to the medical fees.
Cao Xianqian, whose leukaemia is currently being treated at Huizhou Central Hospital, will have to leave soon due to lack of funds, according to the paper.
A hotline has been set up to help the family, 13725098500.
