The Guangzhou municipal government held a ceremony yesterday as it flicked the switch to launch 41 new major free Wi-Fi hotspots through the city, each using the network name WIRELESS_GZ.
Southern Metropolis Daily writes that the city now operates 985 Wi-Fi hotspots throughout greater Guangzhou, and 6,242 wireless access points, more info on those and other services can be found at the at the city government’s Wireless Guangzhou WAP portal wap.wxcs.cn.
Guangzhou’s new official Sina Weibo account posted a list (click the image on the left for the full list) this morning of the 41 new hotspots, which include:
-Baiyun International Airport
-Beijing Road Commercial Pedestrian Street
-Shangxiajiu Commercial Pedestrian Street
-University City Commercial Center
-Guangzhou Railway Station
-Guangzhou South Railway Station
-Museum and Tomb of the Southern Yue King (Nan Yue Wang Museum)
-Guangzhou (Tianhe) Book Center
-Yuexiu Park
-Baiyun Mountain
-Guangzhou First Municipal People’s Hospital
