A 4 year-old falls from a 19th floor apartment, lands in pond and survives
Posted: 08/20/2012 1:00 pmA 4 year-old boy fell out of a 19th-story apartment in Huizhou and survived after landing in a pond on the 4th floor that was no more than 10 centimeters deep, according to Southern Metropolis Daily.
Only one security guard was on duty and the child was left home alone around 10:30am on August 15. The railings on the balconies at Herui Building in the city’s Dayawan District are only around 1 meter high. It’s thought the boy, Xiao Yang, was able to climb over the railing and fell.
The only person who claims to have heard anything was a homeowner on the fifth floor. On the building’s 4th floor is a communal area, and just in front of the lift is a pond of about 2 square meters.
After landing in the pond, the boy was rushed to Shenzhen Children’s Hospital but had no major injuries. Xiao Yang cried for his mother Mrs. Sun, who vowed to never leave her child at home alone again and claims to have been unaware that he could climb so high.
